South Valley Tipon, Pikillacta & Andahuaylillas

After we pick you up from your hotel, we will head towards the South Valley of Cusco via the main highway, making our way to the first destination. Our journey begins with a visit to the Tipón Water Temple, located 16 miles southeast of Cusco.

This remarkable archaeological site features 12 impressive terraces, primarily dedicated to the water cult. The ancient irrigation system is particularly noteworthy, as it remains functional and continues to water the area’s crops today. Additionally, a segment of the Inca Trail runs through this site, which spans a total area of 240 hectares at an average altitude of 3,316 meters above sea level.

Next, we visit the Pikillacta ruins, a significant pre-Inca urban center that played a vital role in the development of the Huari culture between the 6^th and 9^th centuries. Pikillacta is situated at 3,250 meters above sea level and covers an area of 50 hectares.

Our journey continues to the picturesque town of Andahuaylillas. This authentic Andean town is home to an extraordinary chapel known as the “Sistine Chapel of America,” constructed around the sixteenth century. The chapel stands out for its Renaissance exterior and Baroque interior, adorned with magnificent gold, murals, and canvas artwork throughout.

After exploring the breathtaking South Sacred Valley, we will drop you off at El Regocijo Square, just one block from the Plaza de Armas.
