Tour Description

The Machu Picchu full day experience begins with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, followed by a comfortable one-and-a-half-hour bus ride to the train station in Ollantaytambo, located in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

From Ollantaytambo, you’ll board the train to the scenic town of Aguas Calientes. This journey, lasting approximately an hour and a half, offers breathtaking views of lush green mountains and majestic snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival at the station, a bus will take you up to the entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel, where you will have some free time to begin exploring this remarkable archaeological wonder on your own.

Machu Picchu was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1981. This extraordinary Inca city was constructed during the reign of Inca Pachacutec in the 15th century, who initiated the expansion of the Inca Empire known as Tahuantinsuyo.

At the scheduled time, you will meet your professional guide at the entrance to Machu Picchu to embark on a guided tour of the awe-inspiring Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a two-and-a-half-hour exploration of the Lost City of the Incas, discovering fascinating insights into this ancient civilization while taking in the stunning scenery.

The citadel is composed of massive stones perfectly fitted together, creating a truly spectacular setting. During the budget tour to Machu Picchu, you’ll stroll through the city’s streets and avenues, as well as visit areas once dedicated to agriculture and religious ceremonies. The entire Inca Empire was interconnected by the famous Inca Trail, showcasing the Incas’ remarkable engineering abilities and their deep respect for nature.

You’ll have additional free time to take incredible photos and further explore this fascinating site, or, if you wish, you may choose the optional hike to Huayna Picchu mountain. The trail is steep and narrow but rewards you with the most spectacular views of the Inca city. Alternatively, you can return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (optional), where a variety of excellent restaurants serve delicious traditional cuisine.

One of the top tours in Cusco is undoubtedly visiting Machu Picchu. We are confident it will be one of the most unforgettable journeys of your life.

Afterward, we’ll return to the Aguas Calientes train station, where you will board the train back to Cusco, stopping first at the Ollantaytambo station. From there, a tourist bus will bring you back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
