Maras Moray Atv Tour

Our adventure begins at the stunning Plaza Regocijo, conveniently located near the impressive Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Once everyone has gathered, we will board our comfortable tourist vehicle, which will transport us to the picturesque village of Cruspata. The drive takes approximately 50 minutes, bringing you directly to the starting point of our thrilling ATV experience.

Upon arrival, our professional and knowledgeable guide will give you a comprehensive briefing about the route you’ve selected. You will also have time to get acquainted with the ATV controls. After a 30-minute orientation and practice session, we will once again board the transport to head towards your chosen destination: either Huaypo Lagoon or Moray.

The first route takes us to the breathtaking Huaypo Lagoon, situated in the Eqqeco district near the charming village of Chinchero, at an elevation of 3,500 meters above sea level. For around 2 hours, you will have the opportunity to explore the scenic surroundings of this remarkable lagoon, which spans about one kilometer in length, while discovering the fascinating legends associated with it.

In addition, you’ll enjoy spectacular vistas of the majestic mountain ranges that surround the area, including Salkantay, Verónica, and Chicón. This location is perfect for activities like fishing and water sports.

The second route leads you to the Moray ruins. Enjoy an exciting 2-hour ATV ride through the area, followed by a 20-minute walking tour of these ancient Inca ruins. Moray is located just 7 kilometers from Maras, and its site consists of three massive circular terraces, each with its own unique history. The largest terrace, reaching an impressive depth of approximately 30 meters (98 feet), is truly a sight to see.

Be amazed by the concentric circles of agricultural terraces, reminiscent of an ancient Greek amphitheater. The name Moray is believed to be linked to maize cultivation, known as "Aymoray" in Quechua. As you tour the site, you’ll learn about its role as an experimental agricultural laboratory during Inca times.

Marvel at the sophisticated irrigation system engineered in Moray, which was far ahead of its time. This visit connects you to both nature and Inca history, deepening your understanding of their agricultural innovations.

After exploring either Huaypo Lagoon or Moray, we will return to the base to leave the ATVs and board our transport to visit the renowned Maras Salt Mines.

Located just 40 kilometers northwest of the remarkable city of Cusco, in the province of Urubamba, you’ll discover the extraordinary natural salt pools of Maras, which date back to Inca times. At an altitude of 3,300 meters above sea level, these salt mines are a marvel of ancient engineering and construction.

Prepare to be astonished as you witness how saltwater flows beneath the pools and evaporates, leaving behind salt crystals that form over 3,000 natural pools. The panoramic views from this location are simply spectacular, as the salt mines are situated on an open hillside, creating a unique and unforgettable landscape.

The charming town of Maras is known for the production and sale of salt extracted from these mines, alongside its rich agricultural and livestock traditions. After exploring this beautiful area, we will embark on our thrilling ATV tour of Maras. Two exciting routes are available, and you can select your preferred option when booking.

At the conclusion of this unforgettable experience, we will return to Cusco and drop you off at the final stop of the tour, Plaza El Regocijo.
