Tour Description
DAY 1
Our adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in the city of Cusco. We will travel through charming villages, making our way to the picturesque town of Paucartambo, situated at 2,906 meters above sea level. This beautiful village is famous for hosting the La Virgen del Carmen festival.
We will enjoy a delicious lunch as we continue our journey towards Manu, heading into the enchanting Cloud Forest. Along the route, you’ll witness a stunning variety of flora and fauna, including orchids, bromeliads, and the iconic Peruvian national bird, the cock of the rock.
Manu National Park, located between the Cusco and Madre de Dios regions, spans over 2 million hectares and is divided into three zones: the Manu reserved zone, the cultural zone, and the restricted zone.
We will arrive at our lodge in the cultural zone of Manu to spend the night. This rustic accommodation offers approximately 5 kilometers of scenic trails, which you can explore at any time with a professional guide. A delightful dinner will be served to end the day.
DAY 2
Our day will begin very early with a brief tour to spot the remarkable Peruvian bird known as the cock of the rock. After returning to the lodge for breakfast, we will continue our excursion to the town of Pilcopata.
There is an option to experience rafting on the Koñeq or Alto Madre de Dios rivers, with rapids class I and II, for one hour. This thrilling activity is perfect for adventure seekers, offering plenty of excitement and adrenaline.
We will then resume our tour to Manu National Park by heading to the Port of Atalaya, where we will board a boat ride to our second lodge, nestled along the Alto Madre de Dios river and surrounded by 90 hectares of lush biodiversity.
We will explore the area around the lodge, walking along nearby trails to admire various plant species. Later, we will embark on a night tour in search of insects and amphibians. All meals are included on this day.
DAY 3
In the morning, our guide will share insights about the local biodiversity, the ecological systems established for conservation, and the importance of sustainable development. We will cross the river by boat and then take a 30-minute walk along a nature trail, observing the impressive flora of the region.
The day in Manu continues at the Machuwasi lagoon. Here, we will paddle rustic canoes to spot wildlife such as birds, monkeys, and alligators, among others. Manu is recognized as part of the world network of Biosphere Reserves.
At night, we will enjoy a walking night tour around the lodge, searching for nocturnal insects. All meals are included today.
DAY 4
We will start this day very early, taking a boat trip to visit the macaw claylick, a natural clay wall that attracts many bird species seeking essential minerals. This is a breathtaking wildlife spectacle you won’t want to miss.
Afterwards, we will return to the lodge and then take a boat back to the port of Atalaya, where our transport will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco. Lunch will be provided en route.
