This experience invites you to discover the wonders of the Cusco Planetarium, where you will learn how the Inca civilization studied and interpreted the stars and constellations, using them to guide their everyday life, rituals, and agricultural activities.
Begin your afternoon with an engaging projection inside the planetarium’s dome, witnessing the southern sky just as the Incas once did. Afterwards, you’ll use telescopes to observe the magnificent night sky from an ecological reserve near Sacsayhuamán.
During the entire tour, expert scientists will offer fascinating stories and explanations about the Inca view of the cosmos, highlighting the essential role the universe played in their society.
Tour Description
We will gather at Plaza El Regocijo, where a tourist vehicle will be waiting to take us to a remarkable destination: the Llaullipata Ecological Reserve, situated close to the impressive Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park.
Our journey leads us to the Cusco Planetarium, an extraordinary site powered entirely by photovoltaic solar energy since 2007, dedicated to environmental conservation and the protection of Mother Earth. Outfitted with professional telescopes, the planetarium offers a captivating experience for visitors eager to explore the wonders of the universe, weather conditions permitting.
Upon arrival, we will embark on a fascinating exploration of Inca astronomy. Inside the auditorium, we will discover how astronomy played a vital role in the Inca civilization, influencing everything from agricultural activities to sacred rituals.
Following this, within the dome, we will be treated to a stunning virtual projection of the southern hemisphere’s sky. An expert guide will reveal the mysteries of Inca constellations such as the Southern Cross and the Milky Way.
If weather conditions are favorable, the evening will conclude with an incredible telescope observation session, allowing us to witness celestial bodies up close and marvel at the magic of the Andean night sky.
We will then return to Cusco, ending our adventure at Plaza El Regocijo, with the unforgettable memory of a star-filled night etched in our hearts.
