Tour Description
Day 1: Arrival in Cusco
When you arrive in Cusco, our team will greet you and transfer you to your chosen hotel in the city center. After taking some time to rest and adjust to the altitude, you will start your tour of Cusco, exploring some of the most important landmarks of Inca culture.
Your first stop will be at Koricancha, the famous Temple of the Sun. Next, you will visit the Plaza de Armas and the impressive Cusco Cathedral, which houses stunning religious artwork from the renowned Cusco School of Art. The main square, a favorite spot for both locals and visitors, offers beautiful views and a vibrant atmosphere.
The journey continues to the archaeological sites located just outside Cusco’s historic center. The tour begins at the remarkable Sacsayhuaman fortress, set only 2 kilometers from downtown. This site is famous for its massive stone walls, with some stones weighing up to 120 tons.
The visit proceeds to the red fortress of Qenqo, an ancient ceremonial center dedicated to Earth worship, known for its subterranean corridors. You’ll also stop at Puka Pukara, once a military checkpoint, and conclude at Tambomachay, the temple of water, celebrated for its aqueducts and cascading waterfalls fed by natural springs.
At the conclusion of your tour, we will drop you off at Plaza El Regocijo.
Day 2: Cusco – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Early in the morning, we will pick you up and take you to the Poroy train station to begin your journey to Machu Picchu. Onboard, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views as you pass through the Sacred Valley, Urubamba, and the lush landscapes of the Amazon rainforest—an authentic Peruvian experience.
Upon reaching Machu Picchu town, a short walk brings you to the bus station, followed by a 30-minute bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. Inside the ancient citadel, a professional guide will lead a two-hour tour through the spectacular historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu, after which you’ll have free time to discover the site at your own pace. Once your visit is complete, return by bus to Aguas Calientes.
Later, you will board the train back to Poroy station. Upon arrival, we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.
